Wouldn't you like to play and party forever?
[It's been one week since your arrival to this godforsaken place, and little seems to have changed since then. The doors and windows remain locked, your reluctant host mingles between guests, and nobody has killed each other...yet. It's only a matter of time before someone gives out, though.
What little solace, if any, is that you wake up with several coins on the nightstand next to your bed. Perhaps you should try putting them in that mask in the salon? You might receive some interesting gifts....]

We have to discuss this 'motive,' and a course of action about getting out of here.
Make sure to show up.
-Cassandra
Not one to relax, even in a place like this, she's moved on from the sign-hanging as the day goes by. Ending up in the salon where she alternates between pouring through the same book she'd been readying for the last couple days, and setting up a chess board... with actual chess pieces!
When she thinks she's got someone's eye, she'll flag them down with a wave.]
Hey! Up for a friendly competition?
salon
He knows what chess is, if maybe only because his dad once wanted him to join the chess club instead of something that involved standing out more. Learned how to play, but didn't actually sign up for the club because he decided to try talking dad into letting him do baseball instead. Still...]
It's been a while since I played... but I can be your opponent. If you don't mind playing with me, I mean.

Grab a seat. I'll go easy on you.
[She gestures to the other chair, and... then... hmm.]
Might want to grab a pillow or something though.
no subject
[Chicken Little leaves momentarily, and then comes back with the pillow Genie magicked on the first day to toss onto the chair for him to have a seat and be at appropriate height.]
There, that should work!
no subject
And that works for me. You ready kid? I tend to have no mercy.
[Which can't sound all that threatening, because. Chess.]
no subject
[Who's playing white and making the first move?]
no subject
Okay, kid. let's have at it.
no subject
[And with that, Chicken Little proceeds to... move a pawn! It's the one on the farthest right of the board.]

Nope. Pretty sure guys don't own the concept of board games. I'm sure you're fine.

It's simple. See, you move the pieces like this... [Which she demonstrates.] And the goal is to 'check' the queen with one of your pieces.

[This seems to be the most appealing thing about this scenario, and Bob's demeanor genuinely brightens despite his dulcet tones.]
I was growing so tired of playing cheese-and-cracker-checkers with the pharmacist.
no subject
[She just finishes setting up the pieces. Bob wasn't the first person she'd ask for a game, but... well, in here beggars can't be choosers.]
This game is war compared to cheese and crackers checkers.

[Long hours of playing in his cell, but he doesn't mention that. He takes his seat.]
I assume you are a seasoned player?
no subject
[She likes it for the mind games she can cause. Messing with people can be... fun, sometimes.]
Sometimes it's the only thing you can do in a castle.
Salon
Ooooh, it's been a while since we played together! Think you're still a tough enough opponent?
[Moonstone business aside, it's been too long since they really played chess together. They never really had much time to play when they were traveling, so it's probably been over a year now!]
no subject
Oh, I think I can still go toe to toe with you, princess.
[Moonstone or not. Cassandra's life vastly improved once she came to learn that Rapunzel enjoyed board games, and the offhand sparring session, albeit with a frying pan.
She's already taken a pawn and moved it forward.]
Think you're ready to lose?
no subject
You should be asking yourself that, Cass. You know I don't give up easy.
[She moves her own pawn, pauses, then huffs.]
Geez, I can't give you a teasing nickname like that.
no subject
[She found it a lot more fun in general to have that freedom to rib on her favorite person. Knowing that she no longer had to work with the entire castle looking down on her for any mistakes.]
Yeah, too bad I already have the one nickname. Or else I'd miss out on stuff like 'Eugeetles`.
[She moves a knight next. A small tactic, perfect for setting up any number of attacks.]
no subject
It wasn't that bad... it's just hard to find a good way to turn "Eugene" into a cute nickname!
[She won't stop, though. She'll find something that both she and Eugene like! Just you wait!]
... What about "ranger"?
no subject
Mm, not that it's my job to help you on that or anything... how about "Geney"?
[Like their blue friend here- Oh, and how about that.]
"Ranger"... Not gonna like, I like the sound of that.
