Well, I mean. If you ate an entire cake I suppose you might, but you would also get woefully sick and I would think that might be more of an issue. [She's cut the top layer into 8 slices, which makes for a smaller, but still decent portion size.] Obviously everything should be eaten in moderation, but especially sweets.

Yes, they should be! That means very small portions, because even one slice of cake can have so ~many~ calories! [She squints at the slices.] I think you should cut them in half one more time.

I've heard that diets are the latest trend, but dieting does nobody any good if they don't enjoy life too! What use would being skinny be if you were miserable for it?
