The first thing you notice upon gaining consciousness is the smell. The air smells musty and woody, like the back corner of some forgotten tourist trap. As you stir yourself awake, you find yourself in a wicker bed with a soft sheet draped over you. The room’s walls are wood-paneled, and a nearby desk displays a digital clock reading “9 AM”. A singular potted plant provides the barest amount of decoration--though, the exact plant species differs between rooms. A note written in flowing cursive has been taped to your door.

MEETING IN THE LOBBY AT NOON

As you make your way out of your room, you’ll find yourself on a balcony overlooking a octagonal lobby below. Various artifacts and trophies decorate the club from top to bottom, cluttering the walls and any available surface. From here, you can clearly see that the marble floor of the lobby is decorated to look like a compass. Descending the stairs will reveal that, in addition to the artifacts mounted on the walls, several plaques have been put up detailing the lives of those trapped here--including you.

If you peer out the windows, you’ll see a tropical island sprawled out before you, overgrown with palm trees and shrubs. If you peer far enough above the treeline, you might even be able to see the ocean. No matter how hard you try, the front door is sealed shut and the windows seem impossible to break.

You've got until noon 'til the meeting happens. For now...enjoy the club, if you can.

[Hm. She thinks back to her journey beyond Corona, to The House of Yesterday's Tomorrow. Matthews had seemed like a nice man, if a bit quirky. But then he turned out to be a disciple of Zhan Tiri, and it all got so much worse...

She might have a point there.]

Have you dealt with people who kidnap and trap others before?

[ ... it's worth noting she doesn't look older than she is or anything, she is very clearly a teenager. ]

You have to figure out what things they can't control, because usually they think it's "everything."

[This entire place just reeks of the same nonsense as the House of Yesterday's Tomorrow. All that had been missing earlier was the enigmatic host... a spot that was now filled. Magic was definitely involved, but if it wasn't Zhan Tiri, than...]

Or maybe we'll play into his hands. [And she's already done that one too many times before.] He says he has a master, so... maybe we should just be careful.

I dunno what you mean by undiscovered, but it's not like it's mostly empty. I mean... there's lots of people living there and lots of kingdoms! It's a great place!

[Whether she's ignoring Leia's grumbling on purpose or it just doesn't register with her... it's hard to tell with this girl.]

Well, I know they can't control us. Right? [She doesn't even wait for an answer; this girl definitely looks like she'd agree with that.] So that means if we all put our heads together, we'll definitely be able to outsmart whoever did this.

Maybe we can get him to help us. He says he can't, but it doesn't sound like he's happy doing what his master wants. We could help him somehow, and then he can help us.

[Rapunzel is fresh off an adventure where her best friend was under the manipulative thumb of a terrible demon. So this? This doesn't sit well with her at all.]

[She looks from Rapunzel to the Genie, watching him interact with the others. It all rang hollowly familiar to their past run-ins with other people that faked sentimentality... including her. It's a bitter pill to look back on.]

I don't think anybody would be happy working here. [She thinks it over, expression soft.] But you're right. Maybe if we free him somehow, he can get us back to Corona.

I know what it's like to be forced to do things for others because of my magic.

[For eighteen years she had to deal with that. And then she had to put her life on the line because of that magic again, to make sure her kingdom wouldn't be in danger. Then she saw her best friend manipulated and hurt by a demon because of that magic.

Rapunzel will never, ever be bitter towards magic or the people who use it or learn it, but she knows very well the horrible sides it can bring out in people.]

If we find your lamp... we don't need to use it to help us, will we? Can we work together as friends?

...Okay, you're right! But I would've liked maybe another day or two to prepare, before I went off on another grand adventure.

[In all honestly, she had a thirst for adventure in much the same way Rapunzel loved traveling; seeing the sights, fighting bad guys, saving lives... It was her style, and why she'd thought about starting her trek with a return to Vardaros.]

But another adventure with you is always better than going it alone.

[And that's the truth. Just having Rapunzel here already made a world of difference. They had taken on great and powerful foes together, having Rapunzel at her side... She'd missed it. From the moment she knew she wasn't going to see her bedroom for a while, knew that she might not see her princess for a while... It hurt, a little.]
