WEEK 3

[When you wake up the following morning, the doors to the Adventurers Club are open. It only took you a horrible murder to get into the outside of the club, but finally you get some fresh air! Now that you’re outside, the gentle seaside feeling of the island seems to almost instantly soothe any anxieties you had about the previous days. And when night arrives, the island comes alive with music and lights and the island parties until dawn.

One odd thing everyone will notice, however, is that instead of humans or animals inhabiting the island, it seems to be entirely populated by sentient mannequins. They seem friendly enough, but they’re definitely creepy to look at for longer than a few minutes.

However it seems only a portion of the island is available right now. As you make your way deeper into the island, are large, impassable construction walls blocking your way. With cute little “pardon our pixie dust” signs! If you peer from the windows of the Adventurers Club, you might be able to spot the ocean....

Enjoy the sunshine and warm breeze if you can. Despite the new scenery, you're still not any closer to getting home than you were last week.]

[ Hey, Cass! X-23 is here, covered in sand and water because... that's just her life today, she's basically a stray dog who's just discovered the beach for the first time, it's fine. ]

Just so you know, Rapunzel has your shirt.

[...Gonna put away her thoughts on the sand and water for later. She immediately shrugs X-23's statement off.]

Oh. Yeah, I know. She took it this morning.

Oh, okay. I just wanted to make sure you knew.

Why did she take it?

[She appreciates the gesture, honestly??]

Uh... Well, she probably just wanted something of mine to carry around, to help her feel safe.

[How does she explain this when even she's not entirely sure why Raps did it?]

She nods. ]

And you keep her safe. Like a bodyguard?

Yeah. I try to.

[She sighs through her nose the kind of sigh that says there's more to it than what she's saying. Maybe it's the part that she really did get chosen to protect Rapunzel on her adventures, inside Corona and eventually outside it. Maybe it was the thought of how she had nearly flipped around and destroyed the entire kingdom, and Rapunzel with her spiraling rage.

It's probably the fact that, after all of that, she just wants to be there and protect Rapunzel again. Especially with all of this going on.]

I was actually her protector, for a while anyway. [She shrugs.] Not that she needs someone to protect her... more like she needs someone that can watch her back.

[ X-23 gets the sense there's something else there, but also: there are a lot of things X-23 doesn't understand, so it's fine. She nods. ]

She trusts you a lot. You and that Eugene guy.

[feudalladyshandmaid]

[It's... it's fine, X-23. She's fine. That statement is fine, too! Look how fine it is on Cassandra's face!]

Yeah... I know. I trust her a lot, too. [hm] She told you about Fitzherbet, huh?

[Unsurprising.]

[ if she was any degree of normal teen she might notice a single thing happening here today ]

Yeah, her... boyfriend? [ said with all the passion of a girl who has never thought about kissing a boy in her life. Now admittedly she has only maybe 1/4 thought about kissing anyone! But. ]

Eeyup. Her boyfriend. [Said with about the same level of passion. Never mind the fact that Rapunzel claimed he had finally proposed. She loved Eugene, honest, he was something akin to a sibling to her, one that she'd missed. And yet, Rapunzel actually being married... wow.]

They've been together for, oh... over two years now.

[ What a set of complicated feelings that must be! It'd be a shame if they were just washing over a child mostly unfamiliar with them. ]

You sure sound excited about him.

[feudalladyshandmaid]

[Yeah!! What a shame, especially if those feelings were ones that she'd been ruminating on for years now, coming to an eventual conclusion... or so she thought.]

I like Eugene! Granted, like a brother, who annoys me to death everyday. We didn't used to like each other, but then he proved himself. Mostly through how much he loves Raps.

[ "How much he loves Raps." Hm. Hmmmm. ]

You really care about Rapunzel a lot, huh?

I do. She's... one of the most important people in my life.

[She'd dare say the most important.]

Because you protect her?

[feudalladyshandmaid]

[A nod.] I've got her back, she has mine. She makes me a better person, and I'd do anything for her.

[also To her, but that. doesn't need to be said.]
