WEEK 3

[When you wake up the following morning, the doors to the Adventurers Club are open. It only took you a horrible murder to get into the outside of the club, but finally you get some fresh air! Now that you’re outside, the gentle seaside feeling of the island seems to almost instantly soothe any anxieties you had about the previous days. And when night arrives, the island comes alive with music and lights and the island parties until dawn.

One odd thing everyone will notice, however, is that instead of humans or animals inhabiting the island, it seems to be entirely populated by sentient mannequins. They seem friendly enough, but they’re definitely creepy to look at for longer than a few minutes.

However it seems only a portion of the island is available right now. As you make your way deeper into the island, are large, impassable construction walls blocking your way. With cute little “pardon our pixie dust” signs! If you peer from the windows of the Adventurers Club, you might be able to spot the ocean....

Enjoy the sunshine and warm breeze if you can. Despite the new scenery, you're still not any closer to getting home than you were last week.]

...I think you might be right? Now I kind of remember that blue alien with the glasses saying something about scrambled brainwaves...and then Runt said I was..."perfect" like that? I was singing, and he sang along with me, and...that was sweet? [She sounds hesitant about that last part.]

[Singing though... Runt was always the biggest fan of karaoke night, so that part doesn't surprise him that he would be drawn to having more people to sing along with, but...

... That shouldn't have been at the cost of Foxy's mental state. She may have bullied him and his friends in the past, but that still doesn't feel right. It feels like something a villain would do to someone that they didn't like to get them to go along with what they wanted. And while he wouldn't call Runt "evil" for liking Foxy's more girlier side...]

[He sucks in a breath, trying hard to get his words out concisely. This is important. He needs to try not to stumble over his words here.]

... I think that having interests in things that might seem "girly" is okay, and... I won't lie, I like that you've been nicer to me now, but--but... th--there wasn't anything wrong with the rest of who you were. Not just because you were good at baseball, I mean... throwing a rock at some threatening aliens was actually really brave of you.

And... you should have been given a chance for us to get to know and really appreciate that part of you after everything was over. Not just the parts that Runt liked.

["Us" including himself, as he's started to get the feeling that the Chicken Little she spoke of being the town hero before... didn't speak up on her behalf and intervene. He doesn't know if he had apparently been there in person, or maybe distracted, or... not really thinking about things clearly at the time, but since having had a day to think about this brainwashing realization, he's definitely disappointed in how his future self responded to it by ignoring it.]

[She blinks, seeming to take a long time to take that in. Even the walruses yelling beneath them doesn't distract her.]

...I thought you liked this version of me better too. You didn't say anything back then, after all~ [Well, she still has a bit of those girly affectations, even if most of it is wearing off.]

[Well, that confirms that suspicion. Good thing Chicken Little is used to being disappointed in himself here.]

I still don't remember anything about it, but... I also think that if that's true, then I made the wrong choice then. I should have seriously thought about it and said something.

[Oh. She looks surprised by that, as if not sure what to say.] ...I don't know what'd be different, if you did that. But...I think I'm happy to hear you say that? [It's weird, to not be happy like this anymore, but at the same time she wants to be like this less and less.]

[There's a pause, and then Chicken Little puts a hand out to touch her shoulder.]

Hey... if there's ever anything I can do to help you out here, let me know okay? You've helped me feel better about some things the last few weeks, and I want to do the same for you.

[goldiloxy]

[She nods.] Thanks! I guess...when we get home, could you talk to Runt with me? I still don't know what I'm actually going to say to him... [She has memories of feelings, but the actual feelings are gone.]

Yeah, of course.

[Runt may be... prone to misunderstandings and off in his own train of thought sometimes, but Chicken Little would like to think that if he really did care about Foxy, he would understand once they've talked to him about it.]
