[Well that was a fun trial, wasn't it? An innocent man got brutally killed by everyone, and while you found out more about the person responsible of all this all it really amounts to is "The Genie is insistent that you don't want to meet him".

And yet you took this warning from a powerful being to go "yeah we can take them!". Y'all oughta be ashamed of yourselves.

On the bright side though, when you wake up you will find out that more of the island has opened up! It's not much but at least you can wash your clothes.

... There is a nonzero chance that the Genie quickly built that as an apology for all that blood. Whoops.]

[Friends. Oh, Rapunzel can't help; she lets out a little squee, pulling x-23 close for a hug.]

I'm so happy to hear you say that!! I mean... I knew we were friends! But hearing you say that is really nice!!

[... Okay, hold on. Priorities, Rapunzel. She'll just... let go of the girl, a big goofy smile still plastered on her face.]

No matter what, friendship will always be able to pull you through the darkest times. Just... just focus on that, and it'll all be okay.

[ she's not quite in a place to return a hug right now, but x-23 doesn't resist! she might even almost smile for a second while the hug is in progress rapunzel can't see her no one can prove it didn't happen ]

Okay. You too?

[ She's... she'll get the hang of reassuring other people eventually. ]

We're here and... all the people talking to us aren't.

[A firm nod.]

Yeah, me too. Even with how horrible the voices are... I won't let them get to me.

[It's more complicated for Rapunzel, since some of the voices are people she loves and wants to see again, but... they're not the same. Those voices aren't them, not anymore. Varian's not lost in his anger and bitterness, and Eugene came around and wanted to save Cass as badly as she wanted to. It's... it's okay.]

Words can hurt... a lot. But that's all they'll be. And if we can work on finding a way out of here, we can find the genie's lamp too, and ask him to stop. Then we'll be okay, and nobody else has to get hurt.

Yeah. And if we hold out long enough, then... the Genie said his master used a wish, right? We can make sure it was wasted. That makes it easier to get out of here, too.

He used two. One to get us here, and one to start tricking us with these voices. If we can hold out, he might have to waste one more... then he won't be able to do anything else for us!

[Ah, but that's also a problem....]

... Except the genie really hopes we'll be able to wish him free. I don't know if the wishes will reset if we get his lamp away from his master, but just in case.... we really need to do what we can to find that lamp before his master can use that last wish...

[ she Thinks on it, not really a fan of the silence but you know what internal monologue works

... she doesn't know if it's better or worse that she hasn't heard logan yet ]

Maybe we should see if we can figure out a way to get to the other parts of the island before we're supposed to? They have to be blocking them off for a reason, if there's anything to find at all it might be there.

[Even if she was a fan of silence, they're not exactly getting any silence with the whispered voices. Ugh.]

And maybe do a sweep of the club again. There has to be something we missed. Some kind of switch or something that would open up a secret room...

There's definitely a lot of places where a switch could be. We can just... you know, investigate.

[Hmmmmm....]

The best place to start would be the trophy room, that has plenty of places to hide mechanisms that could open doors. But That might be too easy... maybe we should try searching some of our rooms, first?

Maybe. It's weird that they had so many bedrooms just laying around in general, right?

Yeah... I guess if this was supposed to be some kind of hunting lodge, it would make sense. But it doesn't really feel like one...

[Not that she's ever been to many hunting lodges. But she thinks of the Snuggly Duckling; a tavern, yes, but it still had the feel of an off-the-dirt-road little setup where guys would come after a long day out in the woods to share their stories. This... doesn't feel like that at all.]

And there were conveniently enough of us brought here to fill up the rooms. Feels really suspicious....

[ X-23 frowns. ]

Do you think it was built for all this? The Genie's master would have to use a wish to make it that way, right?

[prodigalhairess]

I'm not sure... I guess it all depends on how much can be done with one wish. A lot of the stories about genies I've read have people asking for simple things, like "I want to be rich" or "I want this person to fall in love with me". Having this whole island and all the buildings be made and have us brought here might be pushing the boundaries of one request.

[Magic weird. She's been magic all her life and went on a crazy magic quest and still she doesn't understand it all that much.]

But if the master didn't ask for all of this... what was the point of bringing us here? Why not just bring us to a prison or something?

Yeah... it seems like this place must have already been here. Maybe they grabbed enough people to fill the rooms, not the other way around?

[ a beat. ]

Do you think there used to be people here?

If there were shops, there might've been...

[............... Wait.]

Do you think we're meant to be... replacements?

[ Oh that's a bad thought. ]

I mean... if we are, it doesn't do them a lot of good to kill us. But... what if what's happening to us happened to whoever was here before?

[Oh... oh no. She didn't even think about that...]

... Do you think it's worth a shot to ask the genie if anything like this happened before?

I mean, it's not like his master could have spent a wish to make him not say, right? And if the Genie can't tell us anything about this place, then... that means it's important.
