The first thing you notice upon gaining consciousness is the smell. The air smells musty and woody, like the back corner of some forgotten tourist trap. As you stir yourself awake, you find yourself in a wicker bed with a soft sheet draped over you. The room’s walls are wood-paneled, and a nearby desk displays a digital clock reading “9 AM”. A singular potted plant provides the barest amount of decoration--though, the exact plant species differs between rooms. A note written in flowing cursive has been taped to your door.

MEETING IN THE LOBBY AT NOON

As you make your way out of your room, you’ll find yourself on a balcony overlooking a octagonal lobby below. Various artifacts and trophies decorate the club from top to bottom, cluttering the walls and any available surface. From here, you can clearly see that the marble floor of the lobby is decorated to look like a compass. Descending the stairs will reveal that, in addition to the artifacts mounted on the walls, several plaques have been put up detailing the lives of those trapped here--including you.

If you peer out the windows, you’ll see a tropical island sprawled out before you, overgrown with palm trees and shrubs. If you peer far enough above the treeline, you might even be able to see the ocean. No matter how hard you try, the front door is sealed shut and the windows seem impossible to break.

You've got until noon 'til the meeting happens. For now...enjoy the club, if you can.

[He holds his breath and gives the frying pan a big shake, flipping both slices of back bacon into the air and quickly whipping out a plate so he can break their fall with two halves of an English muffin.]

[Sensing the hostility, he starts shrinking away from Yzma, throwing in some literal hand wringing to the metaphorical kind that's already been happening.]

...I'd say that's a reasonable conclusion to come to given what I just said, yeah.

[The second he's done speaking, he bites his lip hoping she won't ask him to say any more than that.]

Well! I'm sure they don't want it to sound like empty flattery.

[Sure, Bill will take a nice long swig of the non-mineral water. This is absolutely gross, and he hates it, but sometimes sacrifices must be made in one's efforts to gain a patsy and/or source of entertainment.]

You seem like a real dependable guy, Flex! I bet this place wouldn't run without you, am I right?

[Rapunzel, needless to say, is amazed.]

Whoa! How'd you do that? How long did you have to practice? Can you teach me how to do it????

[For just the briefest moment, Rapunzel's smile falters; this isn't the first time Cass has made jokes about situations that... aren't really the best. And though they've put their conflict behind them and talked it all out, it's still a somewhat tender subject. Not a bleeding wound, but a healing scar that still hurts when you poke it.

It hurts, yes, but she's more worried about how it might be affecting Cass. If she's joking about it, though, it should be okay, right...?]

Nope, nothing's gunna separate us this time. I mean... if we could beat Zhan Tiri, then nothing will be able to get us down, right?

Well... yeah. There's no point in getting lost in the bad feelings that this mess is causing, right? I want to be able to help the others, so I can't focus on that.

[See? Nothing suspicious here, no ma'am!]

I'm pretty worried about what's going on, and I want answers as much as anyone else... but I don't want to keep feeling angry about all of this.

[Some things can be kind of overwhelming, even if you don't think they are at first. Rapunzel didn't realize how much work being a princess would be, and she hadn't realized how dangerous her journey to follow the black rocks would be. The most you can do is just... roll with it.

She notices the way x-23 seems to be staring not quite at her, and the smile on her face softens a bit as she reaches out her other hand to hold.]

That's okay. You don't have to decide right away! I just... think it might feel good. So I can keep calling you x-23 if you want, but there's always those suggestions. Or I can help finding new suggestions.

[It's a horrible sort of bonding point, but... at least they're on the same page. At least it helps them see the picture from the same angle.

Rapunzel reaches up, placing her hand over Cass's, and squeezes it tightly.]

That should be no problem for us, right?

Fantastic! In fact, lemme repay you right now with a little advice. All that running and screaming? Great idea. Definite winning survival tactic, y'know? You've got good instincts.

[He kneels down by Chicken Little to get more of an appearance of Being Chummy With the Youths.]

Is magic the same as science, though? [It's almost like she can hear Varian screaming in the distance right now...] I mean, science can do some pretty cool stuff that looks like magic! But there's still a big difference.

Of course. The element of surprise is a delicate thing, and something you need to make use of whenever possible. Subtlety is your greatest weapon. [Says the woman with flamboyant purple outfits and Patrick Warburton for a henchman.] It's why I wound up turning to potioncraft in my youth. So easy to disguise a drop in a drink.

[There's a long held look into Rapunzel's eyes. She... missed this. The idea of this. Back before she took the Moonstone and set off the chain of events that changed all their lives. Back when things were simpler.]

There's that optimism I missed. [she missed that too.] We already reassembled a cosmic force and returned it to where it came from. This should be easy.

About as much work as they put into the decorating in this place. [Because now she's being given a moment to take it all in, and it sure is.... a lot.] Someone around here likes to collect things... or has an ego worthy of all this stuff.

[How else is Cass meant to let go of some emotional steam? Or did it matter if some part of Cassandra meant for that to be honest - that she really wanted to promise that terrible decisions like that were behind her. They could move forward from here without worry.
