ADVENTURE IS OUT THERE...

The first thing you notice upon gaining consciousness is the smell. The air smells musty and woody, like the back corner of some forgotten tourist trap. As you stir yourself awake, you find yourself in a wicker bed with a soft sheet draped over you. The room’s walls are wood-paneled, and a nearby desk displays a digital clock reading “9 AM”. A singular potted plant provides the barest amount of decoration--though, the exact plant species differs between rooms. A note written in flowing cursive has been taped to your door.

MEETING IN THE LOBBY AT NOON

As you make your way out of your room, you’ll find yourself on a balcony overlooking a octagonal lobby below. Various artifacts and trophies decorate the club from top to bottom, cluttering the walls and any available surface. From here, you can clearly see that the marble floor of the lobby is decorated to look like a compass. Descending the stairs will reveal that, in addition to the artifacts mounted on the walls, several plaques have been put up detailing the lives of those trapped here--including you.

If you peer out the windows, you’ll see a tropical island sprawled out before you, overgrown with palm trees and shrubs. If you peer far enough above the treeline, you might even be able to see the ocean. No matter how hard you try, the front door is sealed shut and the windows seem impossible to break.

You've got until noon 'til the meeting happens. For now...enjoy the club, if you can.

Oh, that's dreadful. What did your brother do that's so wretched?

[She's just going to ignore the fact that he recognizes it. Surely "show" means a play or something. A circus, maybe?]

His very existence serves to torment me about my failures and his successes!

[He clenches his fist in rage, grimacing. After a few moments, he relaxes his hand again and goes right to being chipper.]

Anyways, I've tried destroying him and his endeavors several times, but I keep getting stopped by my nemesis.

Some people just can't be bothered to mind their own business, can they?

[It just be like that sometimes!!!]

[doofenshmirtz]

Ugh! Tell me about it, sister!

[He tilts his head back in exasperation.]

Like, if I want to destroy my own brother, that's between him and me! Him and I? Whatever. [He shrugs.] I don't need anyone intervening like some sort of school teacher breaking up a fight!

[primafacie]

Sometimes, you simply have to convince the people around you that you're right and the person you're arguing with is wrong!

[This is all still being said in the truly serene and bright voice she's been using for the rest of the conversation, but there's a lot of conviction behind it.]

Because they are. Wrong, that it.

Exactly! Ugh, you don't know how much of a relief it is to hear someone say what I've been saying throughout my whole life!

[Is this happening? Surely this is happening.]

We shall teach these buffoons the error of their way! Errors...of their ways? Whatever.

[primafacie]

Error of their ways, I think. I know it can be ever so frustrating when people simply don't see things the way you do, but it's simply a matter of biding your time until you can make the right moves.

[doofenshmirtz]

Oh, I've made all the right moves, but I keep getting foiled by my nemesis all the time! It's like he doesn't want me to be right!

[He lets out a dramatic sigh, draping his hand over his face.]

Tell me, you seem like someone who's faced similar experiences in life. How did you deal with it?

[primafacie]

Hm. [She ponders for a moment, finger tapping her lips.] I think maybe my situation is a little different? But essentially I proved myself to be more trustworthy than my nemesis and made people willing to believe me over her. It's a lot less showy than what you're talking about. I didn't build a big invention or anything.

[doofenshmirtz]

[Doof...actually looks thoughtful about that!]

Huh! You know, I think that might just work! I'll just have to draw up all these plans...but I don't think I've actually gotten anyone to like me. I've just tried to inconvenience people in as many ways as possible.

[primafacie]

Ah, yes well. Being a nuisance generally doesn't endear you to anyone, so I can see how that might've backfired.
