The first thing you notice upon gaining consciousness is the smell. The air smells musty and woody, like the back corner of some forgotten tourist trap. As you stir yourself awake, you find yourself in a wicker bed with a soft sheet draped over you. The room’s walls are wood-paneled, and a nearby desk displays a digital clock reading “9 AM”. A singular potted plant provides the barest amount of decoration--though, the exact plant species differs between rooms. A note written in flowing cursive has been taped to your door.

MEETING IN THE LOBBY AT NOON

As you make your way out of your room, you’ll find yourself on a balcony overlooking a octagonal lobby below. Various artifacts and trophies decorate the club from top to bottom, cluttering the walls and any available surface. From here, you can clearly see that the marble floor of the lobby is decorated to look like a compass. Descending the stairs will reveal that, in addition to the artifacts mounted on the walls, several plaques have been put up detailing the lives of those trapped here--including you.

If you peer out the windows, you’ll see a tropical island sprawled out before you, overgrown with palm trees and shrubs. If you peer far enough above the treeline, you might even be able to see the ocean. No matter how hard you try, the front door is sealed shut and the windows seem impossible to break.

You've got until noon 'til the meeting happens. For now...enjoy the club, if you can.

Are your friends missing too? [This fox in a blond wig comes trotting up behind Rapunzel. There's a lot more humans here than she expected, really.] I haven't seen anyone I know here so far...and I called for them really loud too!

[... Rapunzel has seen a lot of strange things on her journey to follow the black rocks. Talking leaf people, a monkey with the soul of the world's greatest inventor sealed within it, that time Shorty laid an egg as a bird.... a talking fox in itself isn't strange. The... the wig and the dress, though? That gets her to double-take.]

Um... yeah! [Be polite, Raps!] Well, I don't know if they're missing or if I'm missing. Either way, this definitely isn't where I was last asleep.

Oh, same here! An island vacation is romantic, but not if I don't have my actual boyfriend with me! [She lets out a little giggle at the word "boyfriend."]

[... Something seems off here, and Rapunzel isn't sure what it is. F-For now, she'll just go along with it!]

I dunno... I had my boyfriend with me when we got stranded on an island once, and it was super weird. Fun, yeah! But some really crazy things happened, too.

[Like a magical idol nearly tearing their group apart. Fun times.]

Oh, what kind of things? Like, do you think that could happen again here?

Wellllll....

[Oh geez, where does she start???]

We were attacked by a giant fire-breathing bug. And we were also attacked by weird fish people who were trying to arrest a mermaid. And there was this idol we found that showed us all what we wanted the most! But it made everyone act super weird so we had to destroy it. I don't think it'd be good if any of that stuff happened here.

Oh, that does all sound terribly horrid! [She seems to be swooning just at the mention of bugs.] I hope the walls will stop any bugs or fish people from getting in here, though! Did that island have a building like this?

[Aww, but bugs can be cute! Just... you know. Not giant fire-breathing bugs. Those ones were not cute at all.]

We built our own house when we were stranded there! Well... me and my best friend Cass did. The guys tried to make their own house, but they were a liiiiittle too distracted.

[It got carried away by ants.]

[Foxy certainly can't imagine liking getting close to bugs at all. But to each their own!]

Wow, really? You didn't ask the guys to help you out with their big strong muscles?

[......... Uh............]

We... weeeeee wanted to make it a contest! Girls versus boys! But even though they had more people on their team, we still beat them in the end!

Oh! That sounds kind of like an unfair contest, I guess, but good for you for winning! What did the boys do without a house, though? [Clearly they couldn't all stay in the same house. That'd be scandalous!]

Yeah, unfair for the guys. Cass could've done it all on her own, but me and her? We're unstoppable!

[They even defeated an ancient goat-squid demon! It was awesome.]

They just bunked with us the whole time. It was great compared to the caravan we were all living in before we got shipwrecked... not that the caravan wasn't awesome or anything. It was! But we just had more space in that house.

[This Cass sure sounds like an improper girl...or is that a girl to be envied? Foxy can push those strange thoughts back for now, at least, and just sound slightly scandalized.]

Oh, you could build it big enough to have separate rooms for girls and boys? And it stayed up the whole time you were there?

[Envied. Totally envied. Rapunzel always admired Cass's blunt attitude, and the way she didn't try and force herself to act like a proper lady when she wasn't attending her Lady-in-Waiting duties. It's just... one of the things that's so great about her best friend!]

We kinda just slept wherever we wanted. The house was big enough or all of us, but not for individual rooms. Oh, but it was fine! It was like one long camping trip!

[That still sounds scandalous! But it also sounds like nothing untoward happened. So she'll push that aside for now, and just bring up those worries if Rapunzel suggests another co-ed sleepover.]

But I bet it was even more comfy because you had a house, right~? Tents can fall over so easily! [Huh. Why does she have memories of that?]

I guess... I've never been camping with a tent. Before we got stranded on that desert island, we were traveling together in a big caravan! That was super fun.

[... Nevermind how absolutely hellish it could get when emotions were running high or when they were trapped in there because of bad weather. Then all friendships were off the table.]

Have you ever been camping before?

Oh, my family never had to go on a trip that long! So there's never been any need for that. And...it'd mess up my clothes, probably! [Notably, she doesn't actually say whether she's been camping before. Because...she has vague memories of something like that, but they can't be right, can they?]

[... There's something increasingly off about all of this, and Rapunzel can't quite put her finger on it. But she's a helper, always, especially to people others may think are weird! So maybe if she keeps Foxy talking about things like this... she can get her to come around...]

Oh, you should really give it a try! Sleeping out under the stars, seeing the deep blue sky stretching out above you... there's nothing like it. And there's so much in nature that you can't see when you're at home!

Oh, we can see the stars pretty easily even at home! [Look the nighttime scenes in Chicken Little explicitly show a starry sky.] But I guess there's some kinds of flowers that grow better in the wild...I'd have to talk to my parents, I guess! Maybe they'll know some way to go look at those without having to get too dirty!

But the sky it's so different when you're away from home... you can see way more stars, even the Milky Way at the right time of year! You never realize just how many stars are out there when there's no light from buildings surrounding you.

[As a young woman with an artistic eye, Rapunzel could go on for ages about the beauty of the night sky...]

Oh man, you wouldn't believe the kinds of plants and animals you can see out in the wild! It's amazing. I filled so many pages of my journal with sketches of all the things we saw...
