The first thing you notice upon gaining consciousness is the smell. The air smells musty and woody, like the back corner of some forgotten tourist trap. As you stir yourself awake, you find yourself in a wicker bed with a soft sheet draped over you. The room’s walls are wood-paneled, and a nearby desk displays a digital clock reading “9 AM”. A singular potted plant provides the barest amount of decoration--though, the exact plant species differs between rooms. A note written in flowing cursive has been taped to your door.

MEETING IN THE LOBBY AT NOON

As you make your way out of your room, you’ll find yourself on a balcony overlooking a octagonal lobby below. Various artifacts and trophies decorate the club from top to bottom, cluttering the walls and any available surface. From here, you can clearly see that the marble floor of the lobby is decorated to look like a compass. Descending the stairs will reveal that, in addition to the artifacts mounted on the walls, several plaques have been put up detailing the lives of those trapped here--including you.

If you peer out the windows, you’ll see a tropical island sprawled out before you, overgrown with palm trees and shrubs. If you peer far enough above the treeline, you might even be able to see the ocean. No matter how hard you try, the front door is sealed shut and the windows seem impossible to break.

You've got until noon 'til the meeting happens. For now...enjoy the club, if you can.

[Foxy takes a moment to be surprised at what she's seeing.] Wow, a real human! I thought they only existed in movies! But a kidnapping? How terrible! Who would do such a thing?

Oh, I'm not human but it's ever so nice that you should think that. [That means she's PERFECT. So perfect she even looks like a real human!] We don't know who kidnapped us, but we've all been told to meet in the lobby at noon so I assume we'll find out very shortly.

Oh, I'm glad you think that's nice! It'd be so bad if I upset you! [She nods a bit enthusiastically.] I guess so! Whoever wrote that note uses hearts at the end, so they can't be all that bad!

[This thread is the nightmare scenario of two overly nice people having a conversation.]

Exactly! The others don't seem to think so, but I don't think we should judge the situation before it becomes clear. After all, things look ever so different when you look at them from another angle.

Well, not everyone can be so positive all of the time! And it is kind of weird that only some of us got brought here. I don't want to be stuck here too long without all my other friends! Especially not Runt! [Her eyes get soft and she giggles slightly at that last name.]

Oh? Is this Runt someone special? I used to have someone special too until the other world stole her away from me.

[She sounds almost upset? Something like an emotion that's not happy about that.]

I do so hope you get to see your special someone again.

Oh yes! He's my ~boyfriend~! [Obviously the person she's talking about isn't that kind of special, but it's still sad to hear.] Why'd the other world take your friend away? Was it something like how we all got brought to this place?

Oh, no. Nothing like that - I even know where she went, but I couldn't follow her. She simply had too many responsibilities in the real world and couldn't keep visiting us in the Four Realms even though she always promised to come back to me.

[It's okay. Clara came, after Marie, and that was good too. In a way.]

Oh, that sounds so terribly sad! And there's no way for you to go visit her? [A pause] Well, if we're in the real world now, maybe you could go find her once we get off this island!

[primafacie]

[It's almost like you can see the wheels turning in her head as she brightens.]

Why, you're right! [Wait.] Oh dear, no. I've forgotten already - Clara just told me that Marie's died.

[goldiloxy]

[A horrified gasp.] Oh no! Did she say what happened?

[primafacie]

Not really, no. It felt unspeakably rude to press her for details, so I never asked.

[goldiloxy]

Oh, it definitely would be! Is Clara a new friend of yours, then? [Quick, let's talk about happier stuff!]

[primafacie]

Oh, yes! Or rather, Clara is Marie's daughter and she's the spitting image of her mother.

Oh! Did she already know about you? I bet Marie wouldn't have forgotten you, so she probably told Clara all about you, right?
