ADVENTURE IS OUT THERE...

The first thing you notice upon gaining consciousness is the smell. The air smells musty and woody, like the back corner of some forgotten tourist trap. As you stir yourself awake, you find yourself in a wicker bed with a soft sheet draped over you. The room’s walls are wood-paneled, and a nearby desk displays a digital clock reading “9 AM”. A singular potted plant provides the barest amount of decoration--though, the exact plant species differs between rooms. A note written in flowing cursive has been taped to your door.

MEETING IN THE LOBBY AT NOON

As you make your way out of your room, you’ll find yourself on a balcony overlooking a octagonal lobby below. Various artifacts and trophies decorate the club from top to bottom, cluttering the walls and any available surface. From here, you can clearly see that the marble floor of the lobby is decorated to look like a compass. Descending the stairs will reveal that, in addition to the artifacts mounted on the walls, several plaques have been put up detailing the lives of those trapped here--including you.

If you peer out the windows, you’ll see a tropical island sprawled out before you, overgrown with palm trees and shrubs. If you peer far enough above the treeline, you might even be able to see the ocean. No matter how hard you try, the front door is sealed shut and the windows seem impossible to break.

You've got until noon 'til the meeting happens. For now...enjoy the club, if you can.

[Her guard drops almost immediately. Cassandra will fight a lot of people, but she won't throw down with a kid. Anymore, that is.]

You definitely look just as confused as I feel.

Oh, well, being kidnapped and then immediately threatened with bodily harm is actually completely normal for me! It's just I usually know why it's happening.

Too bad your guess is as good as mine. I wasn't even sleeping before I woke up in a bed I don't remember paying for.

You mean, you just... Poof, straight from the real world into here? [oh that's some Magic Nonsense if she's ever heard it]

I can't think of a better explanation than that. What about you?

Going to bed is the last thing I remember... Being able to kidnap sleeping people is one thing, but awake people is probably a lot harder. [she assumes, having never kidnapped anyone.] Someone put a lot of work into this.

[feudalladyshandmaid]

About as much work as they put into the decorating in this place. [Because now she's being given a moment to take it all in, and it sure is.... a lot.] Someone around here likes to collect things... or has an ego worthy of all this stuff.

[halloteen]

Whoever owns this place is some kind of... adventurer? Like, the old-fashioned kind that hunt rare animals and explore far-off jungles. I didn't think people like that even existed anymore.

I think I know a couple people that would've loved to call themselves that. [But they've outgrown their egos. Mostly.]

So, we're in the house of an adventurer that likes hunting and collecting things. That's not ominous.

[halloteen]

It's really only a matter of time before that type moves onto collecting people. [wiggles fingers] "The most dangerous game" and everything.

Ehhh, in my experience, those blowhards just like to sit around with their money, moping about how they got shown up. Or poisoned by a death spider.

[One or the other.]

... That sounds. Really specific.

Eeyup. Two, pretty specific examples.

[halloteen]

The first one sounds really boring, but I do like the idea of a death spider. Are they tiny or big? [she wants one as a pet and this is a factor]

[feudalladyshandmaid]

Eh, it wasn't boring, but it was pretty ridiculous for a wedding. [shrugs.] Apparently tiny, but their venom can kill within twenty-four hours.

[And judging by how Lance looked within those twenty-four hours, she'd rather not ever see one up close.]

[halloteen]

Oh, wow! It really earns its name, huh...

So, 1 to 10, scale of difficulty of getting a death spider?

I've only ever seen one, aaaand on that note, I'm not planning to find any more. I've seen more than enough spiders for a dozen adventures.

They're so cool, though! Especially the cute little tiny ones...
