Alright, you crazy kids. Now, before I head off on a long deserved vacation, I'll let you all chat among yourselves for a bit, now that the threat of imminent death and doom has finally gone! Once y'all are done chatting, I'll be free to send you all home.

[He gives a warm, genuine smile towards the rest of them.]

You guys did amazing, you know that? I knew I was taking a chance gathering all of you for the little murdergame, but...I knew that eventually, you all would get out, one way or another. Also, some of you might wanna look into investing in therapy. Sorry about all that.

[After a beat, he seems to remember something.]

Oh, right! Powers!

[He snaps his fingers, and suddenly, all of you will have your powers restored. Except Bill. He's...still the same as always, to prevent another murdergame from happening--at least, for now.

You're free.]

(OOC: Thank you for participating in the first round of Adventurers Club! Feel free to hit up our HMD here to submit feedback and gather feedback from others! We hope you had a wonderful time!)

Final Trial

[It seems as though the badge that Tadashi found fits neatly into the indent in the broken statue in the main room. Once inserted, the ground quakes as the statue begins to shift to the right, revealing a narrow, spiral staircase leading down, down into the ground.

Lots of secret passages in this place, huh?

Lit torches line the walls of the stairwell--clearly, someone is anticipating your arrival. As you descend down the staircase, the air grows cooler, not unlike the atmosphere when descending towards the trial room back on the island. The passage grows more and more narrow, until, eventually, you're forced to shimmy between the walls.

Eventually, however, there is a doorway. As you push yourselves out of the stairwell, you find yourself in a ruined chamber. Ancient stone carvings decorate the walls, crumbling and defiled after centuries of wear and tear. One of the walls of the chamber has been torn down to reveal an expansive cavern, wooden bridges spanning any drops and rope and pitons marking off certain areas where dig sites have been abandoned. The area is dimly lit by gas lanterns strung up around the rocky walls.

This isn't a trial room. It's an excavation site.

On the far side of one of the rickety bridges, shrouded in shadow, is a slim figure. They stand at attention, holding a cane in the crook of their arm. They slowly lift their hands and begin a slow, sarcastic clap that is heard throughout the cavern.]

Congratulations. You've made it here, no thanks to that ridiculous, cowardly genie.

[The voice echoes throughout the chamber, amplified by the acoustics of the cave. The speaker is male, and although his tone is otherwise friendly, there's a certain cold quality about it. Sweet, in the way that antifreeze tastes before it kills you.]

I must say, you are a tenacious bunch. But, unfortunately, this is where we end our little affair. But, before you make any rash decisions, I must remind you that I have your little friend in my possession.

[He shifts slightly, revealing the Genie's lamp tucked in his jacket. The artifact shines in what little light it can reflect, before he folds his jacket back. He chuckles to himself.]

You wouldn't want anything dire to happen to this lamp, now would you? [A pause.] Though, if you must know, he's the one who came up with the "murder game" concept. He's the one that kidnapped you and brought you to this place. So, really...if anything, you're going after the wrong guy.

[As you reunite with your previously-thought-dead friends and catch up, a tremor shakes the ground, causing the Genie heads to shake and wobble like holograms flickering in the light. A startled expression appears on Genie's face, and he glances nervously up towards the sky.]

Oh, no. He's got his greasy mitts on my lamp again.

[Genie turns back towards the others, panic rising in his voice as he begins to speak rapid-fire.]

Okay, wrap up the reunion, folks, we got work to do. I'm gonna get you guys as close as possible to my master--I'd suggest you arm yourselves, or at least find something to . He's going to put up a nasty fight, and if you have to deal with my replacement, too--

[Another rumble, more intense this time, causes the whole "room" to rock. Some of you might lose your balance. Genie yelps a little, stretching his arms out and wrapping them around everyone.]

Just go! And find my lamp!

[The clouds (and Genie heads) suddenly fall away, and a blur of scenery rushes past you. The turquoise ocean fades away and is replaced by thick green underbrush, which is replaced by tall trees. Only about a second passes before it suddenly stops before a clearing with a dark, worn bunker. You remain suspended about a half a foot off the ground before falling down to the wet dirt. As you look around, you find yourselves in a tropical rainforest. Birds and other animals call out from the trees, and the air is sticky and hot. The thick canopy above obscures most of the sky, but it seems that the storm on Pleasure Island does not reach this place. You hear the sound of running water coming from far away--the sign of a waterfall or similar landmark.

Genie is gone, and you are alone. For now. Unfortunately, it looks like the closest he was able to get you was outside of this bunker. The door is closed, but it looks like there's a panel next to it, perhaps used to open it....

Now what?]

Final Week

[As if the trial last night wasn't bad enough, there doesn't seem to be any interesting new locations today. A tropical storm seems to be brewing, dark clouds coalescing on the horizon. The humidity is nigh unbearable, with the only solace to be found in the thankfully air-conditioned Adventurers Club. Every so often, a harsh wind whips through the trees, heralding the coming of...something.

You can feel a sense of finality in the air. The question is, are you prepared to deal with the end?]

[ SUNDAY | MONDAY | TUESDAY ]

[ LOCATIONS | REGAINS | BIOS ]

[Congrats, survivors, welcome to your final week! This week, there is no AC. As a reminder, please fill out the following poll about endgame by Tuesday. On Tuesday, instead of a motive, we will have an event occur, so keep an eye out for that!

Endgame will ICly occur on Wednesday, with the actual endgame investigation taking place OOCly on Friday.]

[ There's not a party, not by anyone's estimation. But there is a teenage girl with a lot of excess energy, time on her hands, and a couple of cookbooks from the library. And in a way, can't that be a party?

There aren't any invitations or decorations, nothing that official. But within the hour there's... a haphazard cake with a little too much sugar, a plate of pasta with butter, and a few quickly-assembled snacks in the Lounge, with a quickly handwritten sign on the door that reads as follows: ]

I made some food if anyone wants. Try to eat something if you can, we need to keep our energy up as much as possible.

- Artemis

[Same time. Same place. Same old murder. Thus is the cycle on Pleasure Island, and thus are the circumstances you find yourself trapped in.

The birds are unusually quiet when you enter the room, peering down at the crowd with some curiosity. The Genie is center stage, his eyebrows knit together in concern.]

...You know what to do, folks. [He rubs the back of his neck, somehow looking even more anxious than previous trials.] Just a, uh, fair warning, my master's getting real antsy about this whole exercise.

[Something seems wrong.

Sure there are no explosions or sounds of screaming, but something feels off when you wake up this morning. Like a creeping feeling of dread that surrounds the building.

Maybe it’s a sign to Investigate the building before heading out?]

[Well even despite your best efforts, a murder happened, and you found out that someone you thought was a good friend turned out to be someone who'd kill all of you if they had the chance. So that's a fun way to end a trial, right?

On the bright(???) side, the last bit of the island has opened up! You can go drown your sorrows elsewhere now! Isn't that great?

Look I'm trying my best to stave you guys away from the despair that is "trapped on a murder island", go have fun dancing or something.]

[Nobody liked that. Least of all Cassandra. For the third time now, they had been forced to piece together a murderer's puzzle and send that murderer to their death. And while most probably didn't like Sugarplum near the end... Cass couldn't find it in her heart to be mad at her motives. After all, how long did she wait for others to give up on her? Leave her behind?

...She can't sit on those thoughts forever. She needs to do something with her time, and her hands. Rapunzel stepped up last time, now it's her turn; there's still time left in the day, enough to head to the depot and start preparing a note that gets slid under every living person's door in the club.

Meet me down at the beach for a bonfire. Drinks and snacks are provided, but you can bring your own.
Let's try and cheer up, or just burn things.
- Cassandra

And, true to her word, there's a pretty nicely raging bonfire set up on the sandy shore. Along with a cooler or two of drinks and snacks from the depot.

Not too many sweets though. Who still has a sweet tooth after that?

[Once again, you make your way to the lobby of the Adventurers Club. Once again, you make you way down the stairs to the trial room that awaits you below the surface. Today, however, the birds seem to be occupied by something other than the excitement of murder. Whispers are exchanged, and although no sentences can be made out, you might hear the occasional word--enough to know that they're talking about wishes.

Before the weight of the conversation begins to settle in, Genie appears in the center of the stage, glancing around at the podiums.]

Wow, the crowd's really starting to thin out, huh? [He lets out a nervous chuckle.] Y'know, I don't...think I've asked my master what happens if this keeps happening until nobody's left.

[He looks like he's about to add something else, but glances towards the birds on the ceiling and decides against it. Third times the charm, right?]

[For the first time in several weeks, there is nothing to wake you from your slumber. No screaming walruses, no explosions, just silence.

A silence that would've been welcome, if not for the fact that the voices you've all been hearing in your head are notably quiet. Something is off. Maybe you can try and convince yourself that this is all just a dream, but as per the rules of the motive, someone must have killed last night.

As you stir yourself from your beds, the only thing for you all to do is investigate.]

[Well that was a fun trial, wasn't it? An innocent man got brutally killed by everyone, and while you found out more about the person responsible of all this all it really amounts to is "The Genie is insistent that you don't want to meet him".

And yet you took this warning from a powerful being to go "yeah we can take them!". Y'all oughta be ashamed of yourselves.

On the bright side though, when you wake up you will find out that more of the island has opened up! It's not much but at least you can wash your clothes.

... There is a nonzero chance that the Genie quickly built that as an apology for all that blood. Whoops.]

[So that was... yeah. That happened again. Rapunzel is sure she's not the only one who was hoping it wouldn't happen again, so she's sure some of the others are as rattled as her. But Sugarplum had a good idea last week; maybe a little gathering after they all make it out of the trial room. Court house? It feels like it should be called that, but even the strange way Corona staged their trials was nothing compared to what they're forced to do.

It's over now, though... for now. For now they're left to the aftermath of the deaths of more people, and Rapunzel is hit with the need to step up; she's a princess. Her job is to help others. If she can just... make everyone feel a little better after all of this, that's good enough for her. So after a quick stop back to her room to grab some supplies, Rapunzel scrawls out a few quick notes, enlisting Cassandra's help to pin them all to the doors of the survivors - even making sure the ones for Foxy and Ace are low enough for them to see and grab!]

I bet we're all in need of a little pick me up after everything that happened. I'm making lunch for everyone, if you want to come to the salon! I'm taking requests, to the best of my ability.

[Unlike Sugarplum (no offense!), Rapunzel has more than sweets on her menu. She managed to rope x-23 in to helping her and Cass at this point, setting up the tables in the salon with plates and utensils like a proper little dinner party.]

[Once again, it's time for the trial. Once again, the floor of the lobby opens up to lead you down to the trial room. Genie can be found in the center of the stage, smoking a pipe and donning a deerstalker hat.]

It's elementary, my dear Watson. [He paces around the stage, peering through a comically large magnifying glass.] You know how this goes, folks. Find the culprit, do the thing.

[He grimaces, whisking away his costume and rubbing his head.]

I gotta say, this one is...kind of a doozy. I can try and clear some things up--as long as I'm allowed to.

[He glances nervously at the birds up above, which continue to chatter amongst themselves.]

[Hey guess what everyone? There’s no horrible explosion to wake you up this morning! It’s nice and quiet inside the Adventurer’s Club.

…Outside, however? Even from inside, you can hear faint, distant screaming.

That’s… that’s probably fine, right. You wouldn’t need to investigate that, would you?]

[When you wake up the following morning, the doors to the Adventurers Club are open. It only took you a horrible murder to get into the outside of the club, but finally you get some fresh air! Now that you’re outside, the gentle seaside feeling of the island seems to almost instantly soothe any anxieties you had about the previous days. And when night arrives, the island comes alive with music and lights and the island parties until dawn.

One odd thing everyone will notice, however, is that instead of humans or animals inhabiting the island, it seems to be entirely populated by sentient mannequins. They seem friendly enough, but they’re definitely creepy to look at for longer than a few minutes.

However it seems only a portion of the island is available right now. As you make your way deeper into the island, are large, impassable construction walls blocking your way. With cute little “pardon our pixie dust” signs! If you peer from the windows of the Adventurers Club, you might be able to spot the ocean....

Enjoy the sunshine and warm breeze if you can. Despite the new scenery, you're still not any closer to getting home than you were last week.]

[Okay, well. That happened! It's probably like 2pm right now, because this all happened at like 4am! So anyway, Sugarplum has set out the rest of her cake from Tuesday out in the lobby. It's just the bottom layer, and the fondant's seen better days but! It's cake!

This isn't exactly a party, per se, but there's also juice and water set out. And it's the salon, so there's alcohol if you're into that. Also there's pancakes! Listen, Sugarplum only knows how to make a limited amount of non-baked good food and the list pretty much starts and ends with pancakes.

Everyone got an invitation, since presumably they would want to wash . . . up.]

Everyone is welcome to join me in the salon for a meal.

♥ 𝓢𝓾𝓰𝓪𝓻𝓹𝓵𝓾𝓶

[The meal is pancakes and cake. Look, Sugarplum's only got the vaguest idea of what humans eat, okay? That seemed sufficient for her.]

FIRST TRIAL

[Once the investigation begins to wrap up, there's a loud feedback noise as a blue speaker appears from thin air. In a tinny, warbled voice not unlike an announcer in a strip mall:]

Will, uh, the people who've been kidnapped against their will and brought to this terrible place please report to the lobby?

[As you approach the lobby, Genie can be found floating overhead, looking...well, nervous. Once everyone has gathered, he waves his hand, and the floor begins to rumble and shake. Slowly, the compass pattern on the ground begins to come apart, reforming and arranging themselves into a spiral staircase descending down into the ground. It's difficult to tell where it leads just by peering down--it looks like you're going to have to walk down there, yourselves.]

See you all downstairs.

[Genie disappears in a puff of smoke. As you descend the staircase, you'll notice the air growing colder and colder, the club disappearing far above you. Eventually, you reach a pair of metal double doors, each of which has a porthole to allow you to look into the room--although it's difficult to make out many details.

As you push open the doors, a blast of warm air greets you as the bright lights overhead practically blind you. After your eyes adjust, you'll notice that the entire perimeter of the room has been decorated in bamboo or thatch, as if someone had transported a beach-side attraction to an underground bunker. The room itself is circular, with a series of podiums set up in a ring. In the center of the podiums is what looks to be a stage. It looks like the numbers on the podiums correspond to your room numbers.]

So! I'm sure the audience at home knows how this works, but for those who are, um, new to this whole system, I'll lay out the rules. You've gathered the evidence, which means it's time to go over it all and figure out who killed poor Doctor D.

BOY, I CAN'T WAIT TO SEE WHICH ONE OF THESE SUCKERS DESERVES TO BE EXECUTED!

[The new voice comes from above in the form of a metallic squawk, and if you look up, you'll notice that dozens upon dozens of swings and branches hang from the ceiling. Colorful, tropical birds perch above, staring expectantly down at the guests, but their movements seem stiff and inorganic. The bird that spoke up, an orange and yellow conure, leans forward on its perch and leers down at Genie.

Genie clears his throat, ignoring the bird.]

...Oh, yeah. And, um, if you don't vote for the correct culprit, my master said that he'd kill you all. So let's hope you sleuths are good at sniffing out murderers.

[He doesn't seem terribly enthused about it, and doesn't even whip out any funny pop culture references. To be fair, no one would, given the circumstances. The birds, however, begin jabbering among themselves, looking very excited about their newfound entertainment.]

[At around 3 AM, any semblance of normalcy is shattered by a deafening explosion that shakes the very foundations of the club, causing dust and plaster to cascade from the ceiling. Hope you weren't planning on sleeping in. Within seconds, the shaking stops, and the club falls quiet again.

Whatever that was, it couldn't have been good. Sounds like it came from the first floor.

Perhaps you should go investigate?]

[It's been one week since your arrival to this godforsaken place, and little seems to have changed since then. The doors and windows remain locked, your reluctant host mingles between guests, and nobody has killed each other...yet. It's only a matter of time before someone gives out, though.

What little solace, if any, is that you wake up with several coins on the nightstand next to your bed. Perhaps you should try putting them in that mask in the salon? You might receive some interesting gifts....]
